Terms & Code of Conduct

This is the agreement every Shine Club ambassador signs at application. It's deliberately short and written in plain English, not corporate-legal. We want you to actually read it.

What Shine Club Is

Shine Club is the Ugly Betty Confetti ambassador program. We work with creators, educators, and business owners in the foiling, stationery, and paper craft community who already love what we do, and we pay them a fair cut for every sale they bring in.

UBC products are toner-reactive foils designed for paper, card, and craft applications: stationery, wedding stationery, calligraphy, planner and journal makers, scrapbookers, mixed media artists, tumbler makers, and small print studios. Shine Club is built specifically for that community.

There are three tiers. Everyone starts at Tier 1 Shine Member. Some get bumped to Tier 2 Shine Star through performance. A small handful become Tier 3 Shine Icons by personal invitation from Betty.

How It Works (The Two Codes)

Every Shine Club ambassador gets two discount mechanisms:

Important: the community SHINE code applies to UBC foils only, not bundles, kits, cardstock or carriers. The personal BA15 applies to your full order when logged in.

What We Promise You

1. Your code is yours. We won't reassign it, share it, or give it to someone else, ever. SHINE-NAME belongs to you for as long as you're an active Shine member.
2. We pay on time. Payouts go out on the 5th of every calendar month, for the previous month's earnings. PayPal, UK bank transfer, or store credit. Your choice, change anytime.
3. We pay fairly, on UBC-owned products. Commission is 10% at Tier 1 and 2, 12.5% at Tier 3, on the post-discount foils subtotal of every sale your code brings in. Commission applies only to Ugly Betty Confetti's own-brand foils (because that's what your code unlocks). If we expand the scope in future, you'll hear about it from Betty first. We don't quietly change percentages either. If we ever needed to, you'd hear it from Betty directly first.
4. We're transparent about your numbers. Email Betty any time at info@uglybettyconfetti.com and you'll get a full breakdown of your code's uses, your earnings to date, and what's pending payout. Within 48 hours, always.
5. Monthly statements come automatically. On the 1st of each month, you'll get an email statement showing the previous month's code uses, sales, and commission earned. If your number ever looks off, email Betty and we'll fix it.
6. Refunds happen. If a customer refunds an order your code brought in, the commission on that order reverses. This is unavoidable, but we'd never claw back already-paid commissions retroactively.
7. Your data is yours. We only collect what's on your application. We don't sell it, share it, or do anything weird. Standard UBC privacy policy applies.
8. You can leave anytime. No exit fees, no contracts, no drama. Email us, we deactivate your code, we pay out your final balance on the next 5th.

What We Ask Of You

1. Be honest with your audience. If you're recommending UBC, you genuinely use the products. If something doesn't work for you, tell us, don't pretend.
2. Don't fake the codes. No self-checkout fraud (using your own community code on your own orders). No incentivising people to buy and refund just to game commission. We manually review every code's usage every month. Caught means out, no second chances.
3. Don't spam. No code spam in unrelated communities. No bulk DMs to strangers. No code-drop comment-jacking on competitor accounts. Recommend UBC where it genuinely fits the conversation, not everywhere.
4. Respect the brand voice. Betty's voice is warm, smart, geeky, never edgy or divisive. If you're representing Shine Club, don't pair it with content that contradicts those values.
5. Know what your code does. Your community code gives 10% off foils only. It doesn't stack with other promotions or sale events. Please don't tell your audience it works on bundles or kits, because it won't.
6. Image rights for reposts. By tagging UBC or using our branded hashtags, you give us permission to repost your content on UBC's socials and website with credit to your handle. If there's a specific post you'd rather we didn't repost, just let us know.
7. Tier 3 collaboration confidentiality. If you're a Shine Icon co-designing a shade, what we're building stays between us until the launch day.
8. Trademark respect. Betty Approved™ and the Ugly Betty Confetti name and logo are our trademarks. Use them in content as we provide. Don't make merch, don't print stickers, don't register handles using our name. If you want to do something creative, just ask.

How Tier Promotion Works

Tier 1 to Tier 2. You qualify for Shine Star when you hit either £500 in tracked sales or 50 individual code uses in any rolling 90-day window. Betty reviews these numbers monthly and promotes ambassadors who hit the threshold. You'll get an email from Betty when it happens.

Tier 2 to Tier 3 (invite only). Shine Icon is personal invitation from Betty. There are never more than 10 Icons at one time. Selection is based on performance, brand fit, audience quality, and what Betty wants the next collab cohort to look like. There's no application form for Tier 3. If we want you, we'll reach out.

Inactivity. We don't actively demote ambassadors. But if you go 6 consecutive months without using your code or generating any tracked activity, we'll email you to check in. If there's no response and another 3 months pass, your account moves to inactive and your code is paused. You can reactivate anytime by emailing us.

Payout Details

What Gets You Removed From Shine Club

We don't enjoy this conversation but here's the honest list:

1. Code fraud. We manually review every code use every month. Self-purchases or repeat refund patterns get flagged. Removed, no second chance.
2. Public bad-mouthing of UBC, customers, or other ambassadors. If you've got a problem, bring it to us directly. Don't burn the brand on socials.
3. Misrepresenting yourself or the program publicly (lying about commission, faking testimonials, pretending to be a UBC employee).
4. Hate speech, harassment, or discriminatory content anywhere on your channels, even outside Shine Club content.
5. Selling, transferring, or sharing your code with another person to use as if it were their own.

How We'll Talk To You

We won't email you outside these channels unless you choose to opt in to the main UBC marketing list (separate from your ambassador comms).
